GEN David Petraeus comes to Denver



Colorado Remembers 9/11, featuring General David H. Petraeus (U.S. Army, Ret.) presented by The Denver Post & the CELL. This commemoration will include a remembrance ceremony to honor lives lost and a forum in which General Petraeus will address Emerging Threats to U.S. National Security.

David Petraeus Bio:
 
A highly decorated general and one of the most prominent combat commanders in American history, David H. Petraeus has dedicated his life to public service. He retired from the U.S. military in 2011 after serving 37 years. During the invasion of Iraq in 2003, General Petraeus commanded the 101st Airborne Division. From 2004-2005 Gen. Petraeus commanded the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq and the NATO Training Mission-Iraq. Following this command he returned to the United States and guided the development of the Army/Marine Corps counterinsurgency field manual. He returned to Iraq to command the Surge for 19-1/2 months from 2007-2008. In the fall of 2008 he took over command of the U.S. Central Command, which oversees all U.S. forces in the Middle East and Central and South Asia. His final command was of NATO International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces-Afghanistan from 2010-2011. Upon retirement from the military Gen. Petraeus served as Director of the CIA for 14 months from 2011-2012. He currently serves as Chairman of KKR Global Institute and is a Professor of Public Policy at CUNY’s Macaulay Honors College and the University of Southern California.
